Thalassemia Awareness Campaign and Blood Collection Drive at Navgujarat College of Computer Applications

As a part of its commitment to student health and social responsibility, Navgujarat College of Computer Applications organized a Thalassemia Awareness Campaign and Blood Collection Drive for the early detection of thalassemia among all BCA students. The program was conducted in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society and Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West.

As part of the initiative, blood samples were collected from students with their prior consent, following all medical safety and hygiene protocols. The collected samples will be tested to identify thalassemia traits, and confidential reports will be shared with the respective students.

The objective of the campaign was to create awareness about thalassemia, a hereditary blood disorder, and to encourage early screening among young adults. Medical professionals from the Red Cross Society guided students on the causes, symptoms, prevention, and long-term management of thalassemia. Emphasis was laid on the importance of timely diagnosis to reduce health risks and prevent the transmission of the disorder to future generations.

The college management, faculty members, and student volunteers actively supported the program, ensuring its smooth and successful execution. This initiative reflects the institution’s dedication towards promoting health awareness and contributing to community welfare through meaningful collaborations.
